The passive emphasises the **process or result**, not the agent. Core form: **werden** + **Partizip II** (*Die Aufgabe **wird erledigt***). **Vorgangspassiv** (*wird/wurde + PII*) vs **Zustandspassiv** (*ist + PII* for resulting state: *Die Tür **ist** geschlossen*). The agent (if mentioned) is usually **von + Dativ** for persons and often **durch** for means/institutions in technical contexts (*durch Software optimiert*). **Impersonal passive**: *Es wird gearbeitet* — common in workplace descriptions.

Common mistakes
